Who we are
Ecole Française Greater Boston (EFGB) is a school that aims to provide francophone families a high quality education. We are committed to guide our students in their development; social, emotional and academic.
School offers programs from Toddler to 5th grade on three campuses located in Watertown and Cambridge. We are accredited by the French Ministry of Education and part of the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger (AEFE). Our main goal is to foster a meaningful learning environment for all our students.

Job Summary
We are currently seeking a dynamic School Director to join our team, overseeing the educational and administrative aspects of our preschool to 5th-grade programs. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals with prior teaching experience, particularly lead teachers, who are eager to transition into a leadership role.

The position offers a unique blend of administrative responsibilities and collaborative engagement within a smaller, close-knit setting, allowing for meaningful contributions to both administrative functions and the overall community. Our team consists of both anglophone and francophone-speaking staff, emphasizing the importance of fostering a multicultural and diverse community.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leadership and Administration:
    • Support the Head of School in the development and growth of the school by setting strategic goals and ensuring their effective implementation.
    • Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, including staff management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment among staff members.
  • Educational Excellence:
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality educational programs aligned with the school's mission and values.
    • Collaborate with the pedagogical coordinator and the teachers to implement innovative and effective teaching methods.
    • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to measure the success of educational initiatives.
  • Multicultural and Inclusive Community Building:
    • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and multiculturalism within the school community.
    • Encourage and support initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a cohesive and supportive school environment.
  • Summer Camp Program Management:
    • Take charge of planning, organizing, and overseeing the Summer Camp program.
    • Develop engaging and enriching activities that align with the school's educational philosophy.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of camp participants through effective supervision and coordination.
  • Professional Development:
    • Support the professional growth of teachers and staff through mentorship, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
    • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education.
 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in a leadership or administrative role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
  • Fluency in both English and French is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and a positive school culture.
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in education.
  • EEC Director I or II certificate or in the process;
  • Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving;
  • Proven ability to maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the pedagogical coordinator in developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
